Last year we at SAFS hosted our first ever Macmillan Coffee Morning, which was a huge triumph, as a result of this, we decided to really push the boat out this year and team up with a local business, City Dental Practice for another one!

On Thursday 1st October our Parents and Carers group alongside our Project Support Staff; Amelia and Sabina hosted our coffee morning once again in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. We had many delicious baked goodies donated from members of our SAFS team, our families, members of the local community and City Dental Practice.

We also had generous donations from Jalandhar Sweet Centre, Nijjars Catering, Charlie’s Sweet Centre, Desi Sweet Centre and Morrison’s in Warley. We are sincerely grateful for all of these donations because if we hadn’t had such yummy treats we may not have raised as much as we did!

Our grand total raised was £800!

We couldn’t believe how well the day went, we would like to thank all those who attended and donated. This includes; Smethwick Fire Station, Trinity Funeral Service and Smethwick Asian Funerals, Recruitment Solutions, ASRA and Deaf World.

We even had a special guest attend; Tariq Jahan, winner of the 2011 of a ‘Pride of Britain Award’ and a pillar of the local community.

SAFS are always keen to work with other local charities and organisation to help promote community cohesion and to ensure an enriching experience for our service users.

We hope next years will be as successful as this one!
