On Saturday 14th February, support workers from SAFS' Lifestyle Group hosted a Valentines theme party. The £195 raised at the event will fund a trip to London this summer, to see the sights of the capital.

Last week, Cllr. Darren Cooper mentioned our 'New Year, New SAFS' event on his blog, in which he highlighted the "wonderful work" we provide in the local community as well as his support for our new brand.
In the post, Cllr. Cooper wishes us all the best for the future in "continuing to make a huge difference to families with disabilities children in Sandwell."

SAFS will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Saturday 14th February, giving SAFS' Parents and Carers group, young people who use the Lifestyle Service as well as staff the opportunity to have fun, listen to music and let their hair down!
The event is open to adults who use SAFS services and tickets cost £10 each, with all proceeds going towards funding a trip to London for SAFS' Lifestyle Service.

Sandwell Asian Family Support Service (SAFSS) initially began as a research project commissioned by Sandwell Social Services, in which the research was originally collated by Joseph Rowntree Foundation in 1986. The brief being: "to investigate the families in relation to the services provided by Health, Education and Social Services Departments". The research identified that there was a poor take up of benefits and mainstream services, little knowledge of specific disabilities, lack of adequate housing and few or no skills in written or spoken English.
SAFS were joined by His Worshipful the Mayor, Cllr. Derek Rowley, his Consort, Cllr. Glenis Rowley, the Leader of Sandwell Council, Cllr. Darren Cooper and the Deputy Leader, Cllr. Mahboob Hussain, to recognise, celebrate and support SAFS' new brand and logo; as well as the work they carry out in the local community.
The Chair of SAFS, Surrinder Bains welcomed the crowd of over 100 people made up of members of local dignitaries, organisations and businesses, thanking them for joining SAFS at the very beginning of something refreshing in Sandwell.
A few hours of fun and entertainment whilst reflecting on SAFS’ focal vision: enabling and supporting disabled people and their families, ensuring they gain a better quality of life in terms of equality, opportunity and success. To celebrate and recognise the work SAFS has accomplished over the last 29 years, as well as being associated with a fresh and exciting new take on the charity. Our chair, Surrinder Bains, wants to see partners and supporters come together and share our work, vision and stories.
